We took this short drive on Easter long weekend with our two year old son. We stopped at free campsites and did some very beautiful hikes at the lake

Dandenong is gorgeous in any weather, but in strong rain it is something truly magical
I loved the image taken through the windshield sprinkled with raindrops
Loved the Shell colors against the dark sky colors. The Cathedral ranges are on horizon
Skyline road is the absolute delight of the whole trip. I think this is the most beautiful road of all we drove in Australia. Wide vistas open from the both sides of the road, Eildon lake and hills.
After a long ride a time for a hike. Extremely step, with rewarding views on top
Starting our hike with our son (2 and a half years old)
The view from the top of Merlo's hike - short but steep
Merlo's Point short trek
Another, bit longer hike on the second day. Again very steep but the views are simply stunning. Was well worth the effort. Even the little one went by himself for some time.
Amazing views! Although the hike is a bit long and steep.
It take a short hike to this point, but it well worth this - the views along the way are great, and at the point itself is so special being surrounded by the lake from 3 sides
The hike is very, very steep, but at times our 2-year old son preferred to walk himself.
Probably the best view on the lake available straight from the road.
Our second night camping again in a free campsite. So good to have a campfire in on a chilly evening. Thanks to our camp-neighbours for welcoming us with hot coals to start our campfire.
Thanks to our other camp-neighbours who prepared the egg hunt for out little son! After such a wonderful morning, we didn't want to leave and stayed longer at the camp
We attempted mount Samaria, but the road was too rough for our car, so we tried the other way. The mushrooms in the forest were so huge that you could spot them right from the car!
At lake Nillahcootie. Relaxed atmosphere just at the side of a road
Relaxed atmosphere just at the side of a road.
The boy's perfect pastime - throwing stones into the water.
Our modest picnic with the lake view
After failing to ride the mount Samaria from south we attempted it from the north. The park is really extremely beautiful, but the road is not suitable for small cars. And is extremely narrow
We didn't find the camp, but I loved this drive with the bright autumn colors
The sun was so rare on our trip, but at the end we got some amazing late light. Any road was just pretty in the sun light
