I travelled solo from Darwin to Sydney on a Yamaha FJR1300 in 4 days. A great adventure dodging cane toads, rood and road trains.

Left Darwin to start a new job in Sydney. Packed all my cloth possessions on my Yamaha FJR1300 and set out on the big adventure
It's the build up season and I've left Darwin's humidity behind but it's still very hot. My FJR is purring along eating up the huge distances. I pass a crazy Japanese bicyclist peddling along.
The desert is flat and stretches to infinity. Nothing to see and the only interest is the regular smell of a dead kangaroo that had been hit by a vehicle somewhere off in the short scrub.
One of the joys of a long solo trip is being able to sing loudly without fear of ridicule from your passengers. My IPod is connected to speakers in my helmet and I sound great.
I pull in to Isa absolutely exhausted. Big day riding. Choose the first motel and settle down with a take away. Asleep early and up at 4.30am next day.
I used a 3ltr camelback filled with water and electrolytes, whenever I stopped for fuel I drank a power aid sports drink and a coffee. Only urinated once during the day and still dehydrated.
Had to really motor to get to Charleville before dusk when the roos are a problem. The FJR just loves it when you stretch it's legs. Saw Kangaroos and cattle on the side of the road welcoming me
Met friends and stayed at the Wellington Pub. Had a big night out and ended up cooking snags with the publican late into the night, Great hospitality.
Over 4,000 kms in 4 days. I have blisters on my backside but a thousand memories
My attention was diverted to a sign for the Qld/NT border where a group of tourists were taking happy snaps. I did not see the raised cattle grid on the border and arrived in Qld on the back wheel
