This is a recent trip i made to celebrate the 4wd Action 200th magazine. The road surfaces can vary greatly so it pays to go prepared, but the trip itself definately pays off with the scenery

Broken Hill is very rich in it's mining history. This means there are several fantastic picture points and there is even a Daydream mine that does tours just out the road.
It's not alot more than a roadhouse, but the atmosphere is electric. And of course there is always the small town feel with it.
The pub, you can't stop here with out having a counter meal and a pot at the pub. Then afterwards you can retire to a beautiful campsite for the night along side the cooper creek
Site of Australia's largest woolshed. Great place to stop and stretch your legs with a warm cuppa whilst you soak up some of the history.
With a caravan park this big offering Cabins or camp sites, you'll soon forget your worries as you sit back and watch the sunset over the banks of the Diamantina river.
A destination any 4wder in Australia should have on the to-do list. Great feeds, cold drinks and fantastic service with a friendly smile.
You can't go past the variety of hand made pies they offer, and whilst sitting down to enjoy your meal you can get lost in the various artworks hanging around the walls.
Well, what more can you say.... The gateway to the Simpson desert and an absolute cracker of a place located in the middle of nowhere. And just down the road from the famous BIG RED
It's a challenge to get out there, and more so to tackle it, but the views from the top are totally worth every minute of it.
